Islington’s New Recycling Trucks Drive Green Message Home

Islington Council’s Integrated Recycling trucks hit the streets this week with a simple but effective message to residents.

In two shades of green, the eye-catching livery, designed by Dogstar, incorporates the newly refreshed Islington brand and conveys exactly how the new trucks function.

The trucks collect both recycling and composting with the compartment in the back split down the middle (well, actually, into two thirds for one section and one third for the other). It was important to counteract any negative perception that could be drawn from residents seeing all recycling being thrown into the back of one truck when they themselves have been asked to separate it. One side of the truck is marked - Recycling – This truck has two sections . . . This side for your recycling, the other side for your food and garden waste. The other side is marked -Composting – This truck has two sections. This side for your food and garden waste and the other side for your recycling. The new vehicles have been designed to attract attention and to help drive the recycling message home to residents. They act as travelling billboards creating awareness and making it easier for residents to do the right thing.
